This Privacy Policy explains how Cheap Maldives (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our website (the “Website”). Please also read our Cookie Policy and Terms and Conditions.
Cheap Maldives is an informational website with practical guidance for budget-conscious travellers planning trips to the Maldives. We are not a travel agency and do not create user accounts or process bookings on your behalf. Contact us at cheapmaldives@proton.me.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to people who browse the Website and people who contact us (for example through the contact form or email). Third-party sites we link to—such as booking platforms, hotels, or maps—have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.
2. What we collect
2.1. Information you provide
If you use our contact form or email us, you may provide:
- name;
- email address;
- subject and message content; and
- any other details you choose to include.
We do not ask for date of birth, identity documents, payment card details, or account passwords. Please do not send sensitive personal data unless it is necessary for your enquiry.
2.2. Information collected automatically
When you visit the Website, we and/or our service providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, such as:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- browser type, device type, and operating system;
- pages viewed, referring URL, and time/date of visits; and
- cookie and similar technology identifiers (see our Cookie Policy).
3. How we use personal information
We use personal information for the following purposes and legal bases (under UK GDPR / GDPR where applicable):

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use contact-form details to send marketing emails unless you clearly ask us to stay in touch for that purpose.
4. How we share information
We may share personal information with service providers who help us run the Website, for example:
- Hosting / CDN providers — to deliver and store the Website;
- FormSubmit (or a similar form relay) — to deliver contact-form messages to our email;
- Email provider — to receive and store correspondence;
- Analytics providers (planned: Google Analytics, once enabled and, where required, after cookie consent) — as described in our Cookie Policy. We do not currently use advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
These providers process data on our instructions or, for tools like Google Analytics, under their own terms as described by Google. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer (for example a sale of assets), where permitted.
If you follow a link to book accommodation, transport, or other travel services, any data you submit on that third-party site is handled by them under their own policy—not ours.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
At present we do not actively set analytics cookies. We plan to use Google Analytics and a cookie consent banner. Details, categories, and how to control cookies are in our Cookie Policy.
6. International transfers
Some providers (including form delivery and, when enabled, Google Analytics) may process data outside the UK / European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under applicable law (such as standard contractual clauses) or another lawful transfer mechanism used by the provider.
7. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- Contact messages — typically for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards (for example up to 24 months), unless a longer period is required for legal or security reasons;
- Server, security, and analytics logs — according to the retention settings of our providers and our operational needs;
- Cookies — for the periods described in the Cookie Policy or your browser settings.
When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it where practicable.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If you believe your interaction with us has been compromised, please contact us promptly.
9. Children
The Website is aimed at a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Website after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice on the Website.
